This cemetery was taken over by the forest many years ago. Currently the area is heavily overgrown and covered by many fallen trees. My understanding is that over the course of time many of the original burials have been removed and reintered in other cemeteries. As we walked through the area we noticed a couple holes that could have been left after a grave was removed. We did not confirm this. The remaining marked burials were toward the back of the cemeteries area and on either side of the central ridge in the cemetery. The area has not been maintained in a very long time.

The Dakota county cemetery compilation lists this cemetery as: Mounds Cemetery. Guardian Angels Church [Hastings], established 1857. 5 Acres. Located NW 1/4 of Section 1. Highway 91 east of Nicolai Avenue.

This cemeteries burial monuments were transcribed during the spring of 2001.
